Manchester Synagogue Attack: One Victim Appears to Have Been Fired Upon by Officers
During a devastating turn of events, a individuals killed at the Heaton Park synagogue attack is believed to have been shot dead by armed police officers.
Official Statement Reveals Firearm Injury
The senior officer from the local force announced that the Home Office pathologist has provisionally determined the victim succumbed to a bullet injury.
“We sought guidance overnight from the Home Office pathologist before full postmortem examinations set to occur this afternoon. The expert has advised that preliminary findings show a victim likely sustained a wound consistent with a firearm wound.”
Attacker Information
The assailant, Jihad al-Shamie, did not have a firearm, and all discharged rounds came from authorized firearms personnel on site.
It is believed the victim was part of the group behind the synagogue door trying to stop the assailant from entering the building.
Outcome of Intervention
“It follows therefore that subject to additional analysis, this injury may sadly have been sustained as a tragic and unforeseen consequence of the urgently required action employed by our personnel to bring this vicious attack to an end.”
Names Released
The two victims killed in the attack during the synagogue incident in north Manchester earlier this week had been named as Adrian Daulby, aged 53 and Melvin Cravitz, 66 years old.
These individuals were killed when a car was used to ram into the property of the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue, then stabbed worshippers in a six-minute rampage that concluded after armed officers shot at him twice, killing him at the door of the temple.
Additional Injuries
Three more people were seriously injured in the attack on the Day of Atonement, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
Watson said, “Medical professionals have informed us that one of the three victims now hospitalized sustained a gunshot wound, which is mercifully not life threatening. Officials think the two individuals were near each other at the entrance, as attendees showed courage to stop the assailant from getting inside.”
Ongoing Assistance
“We extend our condolences remain with all of the families, and broader public, impacted by this incident in the region and elsewhere. Trained personnel are offering aid and care for all of those directly affected, including the courageous emergency teams.”
Suspect Background
Police named the perpetrator as the individual, 35, a UK national of Syrian descent.
Greater Manchester police said that three other people – two men in their 30s and an older female – had been arrested “for alleged involvement in planning of terrorist activities”.
