Patriots Equal Longest Victory Run Since Tom Brady Era with Triumph Over New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has scored five scores during the current campaign
New England tied their longest winning run since the Brady era as they beat AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three scores as the New England squad notched an eight-game winning streak for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season
QB Drake Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
Victory increases the New England's lead at the summit of the division as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after falling to two victories and eight defeats
The Jets had gone in front at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Fields running in a short rushing score to finish the New York's opening drive
But the New England answered in the second quarter as Henderson ran in two short rushing scores before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7
"That was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep earning playing time," Maye commented on Henderson. "He desires to be outstanding."
Justin Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the Jets but Borregales converted a two kicks in the final period as the home side closed out the victory
